Question of the Week

I personally am planning to breast feed my baby when she is born, if I am able. I don't know if this will be possible due to having a breast reduction surgery about 6 years ago. The Dr. said I wouldnt know until I tried. I have noticed though through stuff I have read online and in magazines that a lot of the population is against this. I would love to have a healthy conversation about why Breast feeding is great and any tips you might have and also why people are so against it.

You know that I am a strong advocate of Breast Feeding. I loved the time that I was able to BF Edward, he did so until he was 9 months then he weaned himself, I wasn't ready for him. BFing is the best thing you can do for you and baby Gracie for so many reasons. Actually you will find that there are alot more for BFing than there was when we were born. BFing has been proven to have so many positive benefits and no down side for either mother or child. I feel every mother should try to BF at least once. I do understand that there are lots of reasons why one would not continue or can't but I say at least try even if you are against it. The Colostrum is so very important those first few days, even if that is all you can do...do it. I do want to warn you it can be very fustrating, see a lactation consultant a few times during the first few weeks of BFing if you are able to BF, you will find it so very beneficial, I know I did.
