Rey Turns 8

Reynaldo just had his birthday this month. He is now 8 like Dominic for the next month. He thinks it is cool that they are the same age but Dominic doesn't like it. LOL. Can you blame him? He took munchkins to school for his friends to share and I made him a yummy cake for home. We got him the Batmobile that has the motorcycle that pops out of it and clothes. This kid actually enjoys getting clothes.
A week later Rey had three of his little friends over for pizza and cake and then they went to see the movie Igor. They had a great time. His godfather came too. It was a lot of work for Jim and Danny to take 5 hyper boys to the movies. I am happy to report that they did survive though.
Rey was also thrilled that he could now give up his car booster seat. 8 years old or 80 pounds is the law here.

Happy Belated Birthday Rey!!! I forgot about that rule - I might be able to get rid of Nicolai's too - whoo hoo!! There is no way he is 80 lbs., but he is eight going on nine!! I believe it's the same in MN. Hope you are doing well.

Lori & other booster seat moms,
I am a licensed car seat technician in MN. The "LAW" is only that a child needs to be in a restraint system unitl 4 years old.

However, we strongly recommend that children stay in their booster seats until they reach the maximum height and weight limits for their particular booster seat. You see, most children are not heavy enough or tall enough to allow the car's seat belt system to work properly. The recommendation is 80 lbs and 4'9" tall in order to use the car's seat belt system properly.

My daughter is 9 and is just starting to go without her booster seat. Seems old, doesn't it? But anything to keep the kiddos safe!

Happy Birthday Rey! I hope that it was a wonderful one!

Our laws are 8 yrs 80lbs too. But like Dinah, we will be going beyond that with Edward. His car seat is 100lbs and he will remain it it until then. I know lots of families who have 10 yr olds still riding in Boosters. I know for you all though, one less carseat means a little more space for everyone, though...huh? Which of course is always nice.

What a fine little man he's becoming! Look how big he's gotten. Give him extra kisses and hugs for me.
